Save Gas

Let’s face it, gas is expensive. Even when prices drop a little, they’re still pricy. The best way to counter high prices at the pump is to make sure you’re making the most of every drop. H&A is here to help.

Step 1: Check Your Tire Pressure

Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage up to 3 percent, saving up to 11 cents per gallon. Your vehicle’s proper tire pressure can be found on a sticker in the driver’s side doorjamb. Find yours and fill up today!

Step 2: Change Your Oil

For maximum engine life, change your oil and filter every three months, every 3,000 miles, or as directed in your owner’s manual. It may improve your gas mileage by 1 to 2 percent.

Step 3: Get a Tune Up

A properly tuned engine can improve gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, saving 15 cents per gallon. Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage up to 40%!

Step 4: Drive More Efficiently

On average, gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph. According to the US Department of Energy, every 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional 24 cents per gallon of gas.
